University of Denver Position: Teaching Assistant Professor of Spanish specializing in Heritage/Bilingual Learner Pedagogy

The University of Denver’s Department of Languages and Literatures invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor of Spanish specializing in heritage/bilingual learner pedagogy. Non-tenure track position, full benefits and initial three-year contract, renewable; promotion possible. Start: September 1, 2018. Teaching load: eight courses over 3 quarters. Salary: competitive.

Minimum requirements:

  • PhD (or ABD at time of application) in Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Second Language Acquisition or closely related field, specialization in heritage learner pedagogy and Spanish spoken in the US
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish for heritage learner classes as well as Spanish language classes for Anglophone students in the United States
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in active support of equity, diversity and inclusiveness

Teaching will focus on developing a Spanish for Heritage Learners undergraduate curriculum but may also include classes in Spanish as a second language and/or other courses, according to program needs.
