University of Denver Position: Assistant Professor of Spanish specializing in Mexican and U.S. Latinx Literary and Cultural Studies (Chicano Experience)
The University of Denver’s Department of Languages and Literatures invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Spanish specializing in Mexican and U.S. Latinx literary and cultural studies (Chicano experience). Tenure-track position, full benefits. Start: September 1, 2018. Teaching load: six courses over three quarters. Salary: competitive.
- PhD (or ABD at time of application) in Spanish or related field with strong Spanish component
- Evidence of productive scholarship and effective teaching specializing in Mexican (post-1900) and U.S. Latinx literary and cultural studies, particularly the Chicano experience
- Native/near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
- Demonstrated experience or evidence of a commitment to incorporate inclusive excellence teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations
Teaching will include undergraduate Spanish language, as well as Latin American culture, and courses in the upper-level Spanish curriculum within the successful candidate’s area of specialization. Occasional classes in English for the University’s Common Curriculum may be assigned. Service includes participation in Spanish program and departmental meetings and committees.
