D.E. Hughes Chair – Tenured Full Professor at SMU

Position No. 00050592.  The Department of English at Southern Methodist University invites outstanding applicants for a tenured Full Professor appointment for the D.E. Hughes Chair beginning Fall 2018. The department is especially interested in applicants with expertise in British Literature, 1700 – 1900, experience in mentoring doctoral candidates, and a commitment to interdisciplinary research. At SMU, the English Department is one of the largest in the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, and funding for this position is provided by the generous support of the Hughes Family Trust. Candidates must bring a demonstrated commitment to teaching, at all levels, and a strong record of scholarly publications, research funding, and professional engagements.
