The University of Alabama English Department invites applications for a tenure-line appointment as assistant professor or associate professor of English with a specialty in 20th/21st century African American literature, broadly conceived, to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will be able to teach upper-level seminars and graduate courses in their area of expertise as well as the early and late sections of our African American literature surveys.

Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda and enjoy strong research support. Review of applications will begin on October 28, 2022, and continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD in English or a closely related field. Candidates nearing completion of doctoral requirements may be considered, but all degree requirements must be complete by start of appointment in August 2023.
