Dear CLA Colleague:
In the spirit and memory of our esteemed
colleague and my titular predecessor, Dr. Caroll Mills-Young, it is with
respectful sincerity that I announce on behalf of the CLA Study Abroad
Scholarship Committee, the annual College Language Association Study Abroad
Scholarship competition. Enclosed are a
poster and a copy of the guidelines for applicants. Please take a few minutes to write your name
and office location in the space provided on the poster.
We encourage all students to apply and
hope that your student will be the recipient of this distinguished award. All accompanying application materials and
forms can be downloaded from our website at www.clascholars.com under the Study
Abroad Scholarship link. Please
duplicate the information and distribute it to those who are interesting in
studying abroad for the upcoming academic year.
Kindly remember that a sponsor must:
·
be a current financial member of the
College Language Association in order for a student to be eligible for the
scholarship competition
·
verify that the summer abroad experience will take place in
one of the following terms: Summer 2006, Fall 2006 or spring 2007
·
verify that the application is complete and is ready for
committee review
·
sign the
application and the checklist
·
verify that the student has submitted his/her written
summary of the study abroad experience
The committee will do its best to consider all
candidates; however, incomplete applications will be withdrawn from the
competition.
As always, we are extremely grateful for
your willingness to support this endeavor.
If you have any questions, I may be reached at 404-364-8382 or you may
send an email message mchandler@oglethorpe.edu
Best wishes for a successful academic year.
Sincerely,
Mario A. Chandler, Ph.D.
