Middlebury College - Contact Leroy Nesbitt 802-989-9242 GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ADVANCED UNDERGRADUATES AND RECENT GRADUATES OF HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES Bread Loaf School of English Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont Summer Session 2008 The Bread Loaf School of English is pleased to announce up to 20 scholarships for undergraduates who will be rising juniors and seniors in the summer of 2008, or who are recent graduates (within the past 10 years) of a historically black college or university. These scholarships are especially well tailored to juniors and seniors contemplating entering the teaching profession and to recent graduates in their first years of teaching. The scholarships will cover 100% of demonstrated financial need, as determined by Middlebury College’s Student Financial Services Office. THE BREAD LOAF SCHOOL OF ENGLISH is a summer graduate school of Middlebury College, with four campuses: in Ripton, Vermont; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Asheville, North Carolina; and Lincoln College, Oxford, in England. Bread Loaf offers both the M.A. and M.Litt. degrees in English. Successful applicants will take two Bread Loaf courses, in literature, creative writing, the teaching of writing, or theater arts. In addition, they will be offered instruction in the use of BreadNet, Bread Loaf’s electronic teacher network. Since the vast majority of Bread Loaf students are teachers of English, and since Bread Loaf courses are designed with the needs and concerns of teachers in mind, prospective or practicing teachers will be given preference as recipients of these scholarships. HOW TO APPLY: Contact the Bread Loaf School of English for more information and an application. Applications must be mailed to the Bread Loaf office at the address below. Priority will be given to applications received by March 15. Bread Loaf School of English 121A South Main Street . Middlebury College .
