Dear CLA Colleague:
Please share the Study Abroad Scholarship information with interested students and colleagues, as well as with your institution’s study abroad center. We encourage all eligible students to apply, and we hope that your student will be the recipient of this distinguished award.
To be eligible, a student must have:
· already completed (by the date of application) at least 6 credits of college-level study of the
language of the country where the study abroad will take place;
· an overall GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 in courses of that language; and · an overall GPA of at least 2.5/4.0
Kindly remember that each applicant must have a CLA faculty sponsor, who must:
· be a current financial member of the College Language Association in order for a student to be
eligible for the scholarship competition;
· verify that the study abroad experience will take place in the summer, fall, or spring semester following the award date; · verify that the application is complete and is ready for committee review; · sign the application and complete the checklist; and · verify that the award recipient has submitted his/her written summary of the study
abroad experience.
The committee will do its best to consider all candidates; however, incomplete applications will be withdrawn from the competition.
